Ex-Kilkenny hurler aiding soccer star Salah

A former Kilkenny intermediate hurler is playing his part in ensuring that Liverpool and Egypt winger Mo Salah is fit for the World Cup.

Salah has recovered from a shoulder injury sustained in the Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid, but they Egyptian squad are using medical assessment equipment provided by Kilkenny based firm ND Sports Performance.

The company was established by former Cats' intermediate hurler Noel Doherty who invented sports equipment called Hamstring Solo, which aids exercise to improve hamstring performance and resilience.

The apparatus is fitted with computer software that can detect if the hamstring is in rick of injury and Doherty told the Kilkenny People that he was delighted that Egyptian squad were using his equipment.

"It's a great endorsement of our produce that the Egyptian football Association chose it. We expect it will be used to assess the entire squad including Mo Salah," said Doherty.
