Tyrrell, Pat

September 30, 2004
The death has taken place of Pat Tyrrell, a Kildare senior inter-county footballer of the early 1960s and highly acclaimed footballer first with Junior club Clogherinkoe and then with senior side, Carbury. Pat lined out with Kildare minor teams in 1958 and '59 and graduated to play with the Kildare seniors in championship, league and O'Byrne Cup games in the years 1960 to '63. He usually wore the number 13 shirt for the county, but he played at full-forward on at least one occasion for Kildare and he was at right-half forward when Carbury won the senior championship title of 1971. In latter years he turned to team management and only last year he was back in charge of Clogherinkoe, the club in which he won a Junior championship title in the mid-1960s. Pat fell ill and died at his home in Ballygibbon, Edenderry. He is survived by his loving wife Bridget and daughters Martina and Antoinette.
