Christy Ring Cup: Keegan makes his point
May 18, 2013
Kildare 0-17
Wicklow 2-10
A converted Gerry Keegan free in the closing stages gave Kildare a slender one-point victory over Wicklow in the Christy Ring Cup at Arklow.
The Lilywhites withstood a second half rally from the hosts to qualify for the semi-final stages of the competition.
Kildare led by 0-9 to 0-3 at the change of ends but goals from Andy O'Brien and Christy Moorehouse set up a nail-biting last five minutes.
Seanie Kinsella sent over an equalising point for the Garden County but Keegan's late point from a free proved to be the game's decisive score.
