Kildare clubs accused of poaching
May 15, 2013
Some Kildare senior clubs have been accused of poaching by a county board official.
It has been stated that players who are with underage development squads are being urged to leave their 'smaller' clubs for bigger ones in order to enhance their chances of making county teams.
The accusation was made by County Board delegate Tommy Buggle from the Ardclough GAA club, who expressed his concerns to the Kildare Nationalist.
"One of the biggest problems with transfers in this county, and if you look back over the last five or six years, the vast majority of players looking for transfers are aged between 14 and 18," said Buggle.
"I think this is an awful lot to do with these development squads. You have fellas in charge and lads come in from smaller clubs who are fairly handy, fairly good, and the first thing they are told is to go to a bigger club.
"Don't tell me that's not happening, it's happening in every squad in the county."
