This U16 game was played in awful conditions in Ellistown but despite the weather, the supporters were provided with a great game of football between two good teams. Suncroft built up an early lead in the first half and their pacey forwards combined well together. Ellen Dowling held the middle well and produced an impressive hour of football. Aine Conway worked well in the centre forward position and scored two first half goals.

Maynooth were slow to settle and Ciana Heneghan battled hard for her side throughout the first half as well as getting her name on the score sheet with Maynooths opening score. Niamh Murray fought well for possession in the first half and got three great points. Half time score Suncroft 3-5 Maynooth 1-4. Maynooth had it all to do but it was a new look team that took the field in the second half. They showed a lot more determination and outscored their opponents 3-3 to 2-2 in the second half. Maynooth introduced a lot of subs and their fresh legs added to the team. Orlaith Kirwan in particular played a stormer when introduced.

The Maynooth girls ran Suncroft tight but just couldn't snatch a goal to equalise after bringing the game back to 3 points. This was a very entertaining game and although the weather played a huge part, it didn't totally destroy a good showing of football at the U16 grade. Best for Maynooth were Ciana Heneghan, Niamh Murray and the subs made an immediate impact. Best for Suncroft were Amy Dunne, Becka Johnson, Trina Duggan, Ellen Dowling, Becky Coogan and Aine Conway. Leinster Ladies Junior Club Championship Quarter Final St. Laurences (Kildare) 7 - 11 Ratoath (Meath) 4 - 7

On a bright but misty afternoon in Sean Eiffe Park, Ratoath, the junior champions of Kildare and Meath served up a very high scoring and entertaining game of football. It was the home team who settled quickest and looked to be very serious about progressing in the competition putting up 1-1 within the opening six minutes. In this time the Lady Larries could not manage to get the ball passed the half way line. However, when they did manage to launch an attack they took total control of the half by scoring 5-5 to Ratoath's one point. Two clinical goals from Kim Mackey and one each from Lorraine Bowes, Louise Keatley and Emer Fogarty left St. Laurence's in a comfortable position at half time Ratoath 1-2 St. Laurence 5-5. The second half was a much better contest. Ratoath scored a point in the second minute only for Derbhaile Byrne & Emer Fogarty to return for the Lady Larries. Then ten minutes in the sin bin for high fielding Louise Keatley left the Larries struggling for possession and some slack defending allowed Rataoth to score 2-3 without reply and put the pressure on the Larries management team. They responded with substitutions of Myra O Reilly, Jean Miley, Chloe Monaghan, Julie Doyle & Cliodhna Kelly. The sin binning of a Ratoath player the left the door open for St. Laurences and they responded with 2-4 in the last 12 minutes to record an impressive win and a home semi-final on Sunday 8th October. U13 Division 3 Naas 3-3 Two Mile House 1-4

The opening match in the u 13 league, played in Naas, proved to be a most entertaining encounter enjoyed by all the respective supporters in attendance.Naas opened the scoring with a goal from Laura Messit followed by a point from the centre forward Mary Creaton. It was a free flowing game and Two Mile House responded with some fine points from play. The Naas midfield pairing Niamh Bergin and Alison Walsh worked tirelessly to provide possession to their forwards and were duly rewarded when corner forward Sarah Kelly slotted the ball into the net to extend the Naas lead.Two Mile House continued to exert pressure and secured a goal for their efforts while Katie Loughran; the Naas full-forward was awarded a free and scored a fine point. Niamh Bergin notched up another point to give Naas a one point advantage at the interval. There was a strong wind blowing and had favoured Naas in the first half and Two Mile House now used it to great advantage but the Naas defence were resolute as they thwarted many attacks from a keen opposition. This game was still in the balance and the defenders all deserve a mention for their determined efforts on the day; Hannah Leahy , Louise Murphy and Hannah Cusack in the back line ably assisted by a vigilant goalkeeper Miriam Corrigan and the half back line marshalled by Georgina Kelly at centre back with Kelly Perkins and Amy Carberry all playing a vital role .Two Mile House also defended very well
as the Naas forwards continued to lead after another goal was scored due to the clever passing movements of the midfield and forwards including the hard working half forwards Andrina Faherty, Mary Creaton and Anna Lalor. Naas held on to the two point lead in spite of the gallant efforts of Two Mile House and great credit is due to both teams for providing such an exciting spectacle.
