Passing of Naas GAA and history group stalwart

The unexpected death of John (Jack) Dunne, Blessington Road, Naas, caused sadness and shock amomg those who knew him in Naas and his beloved Clonaslee, Co.Laois.

John spent most of his life living in Naas having moved to the town on promotion in 1966. He joined the engineering section in the department of Post and telegraphs as a trainee after leaving school in Tullamore. He worked in Waterford, Tullamore and Kilkenny where his love of hurling flourished and where he won a county minor medal with the famous Dicksboro club.

He found time for many interests in Naas especially in the GAA club, helping to train the underage hurling and football teams.

He took early retirement from Eircom in 1992 to persue his interests in farming and beekeeping where he met many dear friends. John was also a member of Naas local history group, probus and was well known as a minister of the eucharist in both the church of our lady and David and the church of the Irish Martyrs, Ballycane.

The principal celebrant at the requiem mass was John's friend and a fellow native of Clonaslee, Fr. John Brickley.
He is survived by his wife Patty, sons Sean and Niall, daughters Aine and Niamh and brothers Henry.

Ar dheis De go raibh a anam dilis.
