Naas CBS are into the Hogan Cup final

Naas CBS 0-20

Pobail Scoil Chorcha Dhuibhne 0-14

Naas CBS are just 60 minutes away from becoming the first Kildare school to lift the Hogan Cup after they ousted a much-fancied PS Chorca Dhuibhne in today's semi-final at Mallow.

Fresh from their extra-time victory over Wicklow Schools which secured back-to-back Leinster PP Schools SFC 'A' titles, Ronan Joyce's underdogs took control in the second half to qualify for their first All-Ireland final against St Michael's, Enniskillen next month. It was a superb win for Naas CBS against the Eamonn Fitzmaurice-managed PS Chorca Dhuibhne, who were backboned by Kerry All-Ireland minor winners.

The Dingle men were fortunate to lead by 0-9 to 0-8 at the break after the winners had shot seven first half wides, including one from an Alex Beirne penalty after Mikey McGovern had been fouled in the 21st minute.

Dylan Geaney and Ruaidhrí O Beaglaoich scored 0-3 each for the Kerry side in the first half, but they weren't as prominent in the second half as McGovern took centre stage with three quick points after the restart to put Naas CBS in the driving seat.

McGovern tagged on three more points, while Alex Beirne, Paddy McDermott, and Simon Murphy were also on target as the Br Bosco Cup holders surged into a 0-18 to 0-12 lead.

Conor O Flannúra and Dylan Geaney got two points back for Dingle, but an impressive Naas side closed out the game with late efforts from Dermot Hanafin and Eoin Conneff.
