Kildare manager Cian O'Neill has revealed that he will take his time to consider his future in the position.

As always is the case, a county manager was asked the question 'what does the future hold' after their year has come to an end.

And that was the question put to O'Neill after Kildare had just lost to Kerry in their final All-Ireland SFC Super 8's clash last Saturday.

O'Neill's position was under threat after Kildare lost to Carlow in the Leinster SFC, but they regrouped and had a good run in the qualifiers culminating in a win over Mayo at Newbridge.

They may have lost all three Super 8's clashes, but they played an attractive brand of football that earned a lot of support in the last few weeks.

However, O'Neill is in no rush to make a decision on his future, stating that he had a number of people to talk to first.

"Look, we are devastated," said O'Neill. "We came to win in the game, so the future has not crossed my mind but there are three conversations that I need to have, first with my wife Tammy, then with the players and the third is with the County Board, until all that happens, in that order, there will be no further discussions."
