South Kerry……4-13 Kerry……………5-4 Seamus Moynihan was afforded an emotional farewell in Monday night's GOAL challenge between newly-crowned All-Ireland champions Kerry and county kingpins South Kerry at Austin Stack Park in Tralee. South Kerry won a high-scoring contest and afterwards players from both sides formed a guard of honour as the legendary defender bowed out of the inter-county game. Moynihan made his Kerry debut as a 19-year-old in the shock 1992 Munster final defeat to Clare, and has since won four All-Ireland medals, three National Leagues, nine Munster championship medals, four Sigerson Cup medals and one Railway Cup medal. He also won three county championship medals with East Kerry and captained his country in the International Rules series. "I have had a mighty 15-year stint with Kerry and everything has to come to an end. I have no regrets. It's great to go out on a winning note and last Sunday week was sweet," he said. Moynihan was never renowned for his scoring ability, but he bagged two goals on this particular occasion. However, another Kerry legend, Maurice Fitzgerald, was in inspired form for South Kerry, who used the game as warm-up for their SFC quarter-final against East Kerry in two weeks' time. Moynihan will be lining out in that game, as he will continue to play with his club Glenflesk and East Kerry. South Kerry led by 2-8 to 3-2 at the break with Ronan Hussey and Ronan O'Connor scoring their goals. And despite conceding further goals to Moynihan and Eoin Brosnan in the second half, the divisional side sealed victory with a late strike from Fitzgerald, who was introduced at half-time. Tweet
