The Late Pat O'Brien Pat O'Brien, a well-known cattle dealer from Lahern, Milltown has died. He passed away peacefully in St. Joseph's Nursing Home, Killorglin on November 20. Born in 1932, he was one of six sons. His parents, Nicholas and Katie O'Brien, lived in Brachill, Castlemaine. In 1956 he married Joan (nee Caunihan) and they had six children who in turn gave them 15 grandchildren. His wife Joan died in 1974 after a long battle with cancer, leaving Pat to bring up a young family between the ages of eight and 17. Pat had a keen interest in gaelic games and had a long association with Lustry GAA club, as both a selector and a spectator. Pat was a well-respected member of the cattle-dealing community, a fact acknowledged by the guard of honour at his funeral provided by his many friends in the trade. Pat O'Brein was pre-deceased by his wife Joan. He is also survived by his six children Dolores, William, Norma, Pat Pascal and Niall and his 15 grandchildren Morgan, Katie, Kevin, Christine, Nicole, Brenda, Billy Nicholas, Pascal, Adam, Thomas, Luke, Brendan, Patrick and Erin.
