Danny had a great love of nature and enjoyed a good laugh

The sudden death of Danny O'Donoghue, Renard South, Cahersiveen, came as a great sadness to his wife Anne, family, friends and neighbours.

Danny was born 23rd January, 1948 to Daniel and Bridie O'Donoghue, one of six sons and two daughters. After finishing his education in Cahersiveen, Danny took up a trade in block laying and plastering. He was always complemented on his fine attention to detail and finish. He took great care in his work and no job was ever completed unless Danny was happy. He joined Kerry County Council in 1996 and his wonderful work can be seen throughout south Kerry and surrounding areas.

Danny married Anne O'Donoghue in September 1976. Both Ann and Danny shared a great love of nature and spent many happy hours tending their garden together. Danny took great pride in his vegetable garden and each ridge was handmade to a very high standard. One would think he used a spirit level to get his lines so straight. He always got a high yield from his harvest and was always happy to share
his produce with his friends and neighbours.

In later years, fishing became something Danny liked to do and he and his good friend, Dan (Jim) 0'Sullivan would fish scallops together. Danny also had a keen interest in sport, especially the GAA. He played for his local team, Renard, and in 1965 he found himself in Croke Park playing against Galway in an All-Ireland Technical Schools final. Danny later attended many games and in recent years was happy to watch a match at home and was not shy in giving some heated advice from his armchair.

Danny was a very noble gentleman. He was always ready to lend a helping hand and always enjoyed a good laugh. He will be remembered for his kindness and generosity of spirit and especially his very warm welcome.

Danny will be sorely missed by his loving wife Anne, his brothers and sisters, brother and sisters-in-law, nieces and nephews, his many friends and neighbours.

May he rest in peace.
