Kerry star and Manchester United fanatic Darran O'Sullivan admits he is struggling to come to terms with the news that Alex Ferguson is leaving Old Trafford.

The former QPR triallist was born in 1986 - the same year as Fergie took the United reins and went on to become the most successful manager in Premier League history.

"It's hard to believe Ferguson will no longer be in the dugout," O'Sullivan said in the Irish Daily Star.

"It's a tough one to get your head around. I know nothing else but Ferguson being in charge. That's the way it is with most United fans. It'll be strange next season.

"There are a lot of United fans in the Kerry squad. Both of the O Ses, Paul Galvin, Eamonn Fitzmaurice, our manager, Kieran O'Leary, Aidan O'Mahony…

"Myself, Kieran Donaghy, Kieran O'Leary and Gooch (Cooper) went over to the Champions League semi-final a couple of years ago when they beat Chelsea at Old Trafford. Donaghy is a big Chelsea fan. Gooch is Liverpool, but we wanted to bring him to see a proper football team!"
