Kerry defender Tom Barrett is a major doubt for their Christy Ring Cup opener at the weekend.

Barrett is suffering from a rib injury that was sustained during a club game and it is touch and go whether he will make the game against Down in Newry on Saturday.

Kerry manager Tom Howard admitted to the Kerryman that Barrett was a major doubt for the match.

"He's a worry and it'll be touch and go whether he'd be available or not," stressed the Kerry boss. Tweet
