Munster MFC: Cahalane shines as Cork win replay

April 27, 2013
Cork enjoyed a 3-6 to 0-10 victory over Kerry in their Munster MFC quarter-final replay at Austin Stack Park, Tralee yesterday evening.

Goals were the key for the Rebels while corner forward Michael Cahalane produced a man of the match performance. The Bandon youngster was responsible for 2-5 of his sides tally.

With the breeze in their favour, Kerry opened up 0-4 to 0-0 lead after six minutes of play thanks to scores from Conor Keane, Tomás Ó Sé, Eanná Ó Conchúir and Jack Savage.

Cahalane got Cork up and running with a well taken score before his rasping shot at goal rebounded off the woodwork and into the Kerry net. This left the sides level.

Cork led at the interval - 2-4 to 0-5. Cahalane's second goal on 24 minutes pushed the Rebels clear.

The game was effectively over as a contest within a minute of the restart when Kevin O'Neill put the ball beyond 'keeper Shane Ryan for Cork's third goal.

Kevin Shanahan had a goal chance for Kerry but his effort went wide. This was the Kingdom's only real chance of the second half.
