Champions Kilmoyley and Lixnaw meet in the Kerry Senior Hurling Championship final at Austin Stack Park, Tralee, on Sunday (3.45). Before a ball was struck in this year's championship these were the two teams that most people expected to be leading contenders and with the draw ensuring that they avoided each other up to this stage, the county has the final most people expected. Kilmoyley edged out Ballyheigue thanks to an injury time point from Ollie Diggins in a thrilling final last year and if this year's decider is half as good it will be worth seeing. That was Kilmoyley's first senior title since 1971 and their great servant Christy Walsh summed it up afterwards by saying: "It isn't just a monkey off our backs.....it's the whole of Dublin Zoo." The appetite is there to achieve more success and in Liam Walsh they possess an outstanding centre half-back. However, 1999 champions Lixnaw won't be easy to beat and they proved in their victory over Ballyduff that they are more than capable of upsetting the champions and favourites. However, with Walsh running the show in the centre of the Kilmoyley defence they are fancied to make it back-to-back titles. Tweet
