Favier, Joe

The death occurred on June 10th of Joe Favier of Glenflesk. Joe was a former PRO of the East Kerry Board, serving for five years in the early 1990s. It was during this time that the East Kerry Board laid the foundation for the later success in the county senior championship, which resulted in a three senior titles in a row between 1997 and 1999. Joe was an articulate and well-liked official with a memorable turn of phrase. He was a loyal assistant to fellow clubman, referee Michael O'Donoghue of Glenflesk and along with his brother Anthony, Joe was a regular umpire at games refereed by Michael. Joe was one of three Favier brothers who served the East Kerry Board with distinction as officers - Pat being chairman of the board and Dan being treasurer. Joe was predeceased by his wife Zena.
