Donoghue on high alert

The surprise defeats suffered by Tipperary and Kilkenny to Cork and Wexford respectively has Galway manager Micheal Donoghue on his guard ahead of Sunday's Leinster SHC semi-final against Offaly in Portlaoise.

The Allianz League champions are raging hot favourites to set up a provincial final showdown with Wexford, but Donoghue fears his team could be just as vulnerable as Tipp and the Cats were.

"I think so. I think when you are involved in it, though, you realise that," he told the Galway News website.

"Supporters' expectations - and how they judge teams - will have changed now by some of the results to date. Some of the teams people were taking for granted have caused huge upsets and got massive results. That is the trend. That is why we always try to prepare the exact same way for every game and always give total respect to our opposition. We will be duly doing that for Offaly as well."
