'It's Lourdes water and Rosary beads we'll need'

Getting a fully fit squad to face Wexford in the Leinster SHC quarterfinal is going to be a tall order, according to Laois manager Eamonn Kelly.

Following their win over Kerry in Tralee last Sunday, Laois booked their place in the quarterfinal and the draw has pitted them against Wexford.

However, the win over Kerry came at a price as Paddy Whelan and Ryan Mullaney were both forced off with injuries and it remains to be seen if they will be fit for the clash against Wexford on Sunday week.

Definitely out of that clash is Ben Conroy whose season is over with a shoulder injury, while Cahir Healy (hamstring) and Willie Dunphy (concussion) are in a race against time to be fit.

Kelly told the Leinster Express that they will try everything to have all players available for a game against a side that Laois pushed all the way in their league encounter.

"It's Lourdes water and Rosary beads we'll need, we'll have to assess them as we are going along. We really don't know yet, but Willie should be back," said Kelly.

He added: "We gave it a good go that (league clash), but we'll get our own house in order and get as many players as we can back on the field over the next two weeks, we'll see how it goes."
