Clare joint-managers Donal Moloney and Gerry O'Connor have revealed that they will be understrength for the Munster SHL.

On Sunday, they face Kerry in the first round of the competition in what will be the opening game of four over a ten-day period.

The new managers have a host of injuries and other absentees to contend with, but they stressed to the Clare Champion that it will give a lot of fringe players the opportunity to impress.

"We are leaving the Ballyea players out for the moment, while there are a number of long-term injuries," said Moloney.

"The unavailability of these players creates an opportunity to see more players in action. We are getting a good response and it's quite positive so far."

Players unavailable include Conor McGrath (injured), David McInerney (out of country), Colin Ryan (extended break), Pat O'Connor (injured) and Conor Ryan (injured).
