Kevin Ryan refused to be drawn on his future as Antrim manager following the Saffrons' relegation to the Christy Ring Cup.

The Waterford native is under pressure to retain his position after a disastrous season that saw Antrim surrender both their Allianz League Division 1B and Liam MacCarthy Cup status.

Admitting his side were "devastated" to drop out of hurling's top tier, Ryan said after the 1-11 to 2-18 defeat to Carlow: "There is no point in trying to dress it up, it is a massive setback for us with both of those, the league and that together.

"It is not a day for figuring out how to deal with it. I told everyone there, it is not a day for making any decisions for anybody."

"We created a lot of chances, but did not take them. It was possible to hope when trailing by five or six points, but when it goes to eight or nine you need goals and we did not look like getting them.

"There is now an Ulster championship final in seven weeks' time for us and the U21 championship to come."
