Kilmallock defender Liam Walsh has stressed that last Sunday's Munster SHC final win was the best day of his life where hurling was concerned.

Having failed to make any real impact on their last two provincial campaigns, the Limerick champions made amends this time around as they defeated Clare side Cratloe in a pulsating contest that needed extra time to separate the sides.

Both teams deserve huge credit for producing what has been described by many as the best game of the year and who could argue with that fact.

For Walsh, it was a dream come true and he told the Limerick Leader that they were determined not to let this one slip.

"You don't get too many days like that, it was the best day of my life when it comes to hurling," said Walsh.

"We spoke before the match about being in a Munster final and that we mightn't be in another one for ten years so we had to come out as winners. It was the proudest day of my life to be part of this great Kilmallock team. It's a great day for me, a proud day for my family and an honour to represent the club of Kilmallock and to have a Munster medal in the back pocket."
