Westmeath minors in the dock
August 13, 2014
Westmeath were due to take on Meath this Saturday in the All Ireland MHC B semi final at Trim.
Westmeath minor hurlers have found themselves in hot water following an incident that occurred after their All-Ireland MHC 'B' clash against Armagh last weekend.
The Midlanders defeated Armagh comfortably in the opening round of the championship at the Athletic Grounds last Saturday afternoon and were due to play Meath in the semi-final this weekend.
However, hoganstand.com can confirm that Westmeath have handed their neighbours a walkover, after their County Board decided to pull the team from the competition when it became known that an unsavoury situation occurred in the Athletic Grounds dressingrooms.
The minor management team were only made aware of the incident on Sunday morning, when they were contacted by county board officials.
Fermanagh and Antrim were playing Ladies football at the same venue and it is alleged that tops and jerseys went missing from the Erne County's dressingroom.
It must be stressed that the incident is believed to have involved only a handful of people and it is unfortunate that other members of the squad and the management team have been made to suffer over this.
