Price wants a run in Leinster

Clonkill defeated Buffer's Alley in the Leinster SHL Division 1 final replay.
Eoin Price believes Clonkill have a great chance of reaching this year's AIB Leinster club SHC final.

The back-to-back Westmeath champions have been pitted on the opposite side of the draw to their Kilkenny, Wexford and Dublin counterparts, and the Ireland captain for the forthcoming Hurling/Shinty series feels they have a real chance of making progress.

"We have just spoken about the Leinster championship in the dressing room and we are definitely going to give it a hell of a lash," he told The Westmeath Topic after last Sunday's county final win over Raharney.

"We have to play the Laois champions and then the winners play the Offaly champions (Kilcormac/Killoughey have to get over the Carlow champions first), so it is probably a good draw for us as we are after avoiding the Dublin champions and those teams like Oulart-the-Ballagh, so we will give it a right lash and try and go one further than a Westmeath team has gone in previous years."

Meanwhile, recently reappointed Westmeath manager Brian Hanley was impressed with the standard of fare on show at Cusack Park last Sunday.
"The final today was a very enjoyable game," he said.

"I think the rivalry between the two teams - Raharney and Clonkill - is what made that game. There were some really good patches of play and some really good scores by both sides, and hurling in Westmeath was the real winner today.

"I was very disappointed in the two semi-finals. There wasn't the same bite in the two semis that there was here today and it would do your heart good to see that."
