It has been a profitable week for the O'Carroll brothers in the Colleges arena. Just one week after the impressive Senior Singles Intervarsities triumph of Limerick's Seamus O'Carroll, his younger brother, Padraig secured the Senior Singles honours in the Colleges handball championships over the weekend. O'Carroll had a tough third game triumph over Mayo's Ian McLoughlin before denying Liam O'Reilly of Antrim in the final.

Galway's Martin Mulkerrins, representing St. Mary's College, turned the tables again in his terrific ongoing rivalry with recent USHA Junior Singles champion, Killian Carroll, as he picked up the Intermediate honours. Mulkerrins won his semi-final match against the Cork player by 11-4 in the tie-break before getting the better of Kildare's Niall O'Connor in the decider at Leixlip. Monaghan's Darren Doherty also continued his rise up the ranks with another All Ireland success in the Juniors singles, where he defeated Colin Crehan in the final. Ballyhale CS, Kilkenny, Roscommon CBS and St Joseph's College in Tulla claimed the doubles titles in the Boys grades. 

Down's Lorraine Havern, playing for St Mary's HS Newry, claimed the Senior girls colleges title with a final win over Leona Ryder. Catriona Casey and Aisling O'Keefe (Boherbue CS) added the Senior Girls doubles colleges title to their recent Worlds triumph while Connacht captured both junior girls events courtesy of Lauren O'Riordain (Convent of Mercy, Roscommon) and the junior doubles pairing of Ciana Ní Churraoin and Roisin Ní Chonghaile (Colaiste Na Coirbe, Gaillimh)
