The Late Gerard Hennelly The death occurred peacefully of Gerard Hennelly, Rockford Park, Blackrock, Co. Dublin and formerly of Loughan Boy, Caltra, Co. Galway at St. Vincents University Hospital Dublin. Gerard (87) or Gerry as he was known, migrated to Dublin in his youth and worked for Premier Dairies as a delivery man. In his youth he was a talented Gaelic Footballer and was a member of the Caltra Junior County Championship winning team of 1943. He is the last surviving member of his generation of the Hennelly Family and was over the years a frequent visitor to his native home. His remains reposed at his residence before being removed to the Church of the Guardian Angels, Newtown Park, Blackrock and his coffin was draped with a Caltra Club jersey. His remains were received by Rev. Fr J Touhy C.C. and were brought to rest at the Shanganagh Cemetery, Shankill after concelebrated Mass of the Resurrection with Fr. Touhy and Fr. Fortune at Celebrants. Amongst the gifts at the offertory was his accordion representing his love of music, his native Galway and Caltra jerseys and a Dublin jersey. His is survived by his wife Kathleen, daughters Mary, Margaret, Bernadette, Veronica, Martina, Elizabeth, Gabrielle, Maeve, Catherine and Christina; sons Gerard, Martin, Robert and Raymond, 26 grandchildren, daughters-in-law, sons-in-law, nieces, nephews, relatives, neighbours and many friends.
