The Late Peggy Hardiman The death occurred on Saturday January 25th at her holiday residence Circular Road, Birchgrove, Ballinasloe of Mrs Peggy Hardiman nee Gilligan of Hall Green, Birmingham. Aged sixty three, she was the former Peggy Gilligan of Dangan, Tuam. She was wife of Jimmy Hardiman a native of Clonbeggane, Ballydangan. Of a friendly and jovial disposition, she was held in high regard by all those who made her acquaintance and was devoted to her immediate and extended family. She trained as a general nurse at Portiuncula Hospital, Ballinasloe and continued her nursing career as a midwife in Birmingham and was latterly attached to a G.P. practice in Sparkhill in Birmingham for ten years prior to her retirement. She was an avid Gaelic games enthusiast and was involved with St. Edward's Gaelic Football Club in Birmingham and the Warwickshire GAA County Board alongside her husband Jimmy. She is survived by her husband Jimmy, sons Paul (Liverpool), Robert (Birmingham), daughters Mrs Anne Lohan (Birchgrove) and Mary (Birmingham). She was a member of a family of five, four girls and one boy and is survived by her brother Tommie Gilligan, Dangan Tuam, sisters Mrs Kathleen Jennings (New Jersey) Mrs Maura Kit (New York) and Mrs Nancy Walsh, (Menlough). She is survived by her nine grandchildren and many relatives. Following concelebrated Mass at St Mary's Church, Moore, the funeral took place to Moore new cemetery. The principal celebrant of the Mass was Dr. Joseph Cassidy, P.P. Moore. He was joined by Rev Paul Keane, C.C. Cloonfad, Rev Kieran O'Rourke, C.C., Portumna, Rev John Garvey, Adm Ballinasloe, Very Rev. Sean Kilbane P.P. Menlough and Rev. David Murphy, Galway. Courtesy of the Tuam Herald April 2003
