The entire Galway Ladies Football panel are handing in their smartphones for the month of June because they want to encourage people to stop 'scrolling, scrolling, scrolling' and instead to talk to each other.

Captain Edel Concannon says they have produced an amusing video with a serious message. 'We are trying to highlight the link between over-use of social media and issues such as depression, though we realise that it's going to be tough for the younger girls (to hand in their phones) because it's part of their life'.

The Galway girls hope to raise 10,000 Euro for Pieta House West which provides a service, free of charge, to anyone affected by suicide or deliberate self-harm.

You can donate here www.ifundraise.ie/talkforpieta and in the meantime, enjoy this Jerome Quinn Media video with the girls!
