Connacht club JHC: Calry-St Joseph's retain title
November 18, 2013
Calry-St Joseph's claimed back-to-back Connacht club JHC titles following a 2-12 to 2-10 victory over An Spideal of Galway on Saturday afternoon.
Played at the Connacht GAA centre, two late points from Eolan McCarthy and Conor Griffin secured victory for the Sligo kingpins who had led 1-7 to 1-5 at the break.
An Spideal's Ciaran Breathnach netted the games opening goal but Calry-St Joseph's responded quickly with one of their own from Kevin Gilmartin.
Both sides enjoyed their fair share of possession in the second period but with the wind in their favour, Calry-St Joseph's had the edge on the Gaeltacht side.
A Sean Ó Curraoin goal pushed An Spideal infront but the holders regained their lead when McCarthy fired to the net.
