Mulholland won't be raiding U21 squad

Galway manager Alan Mulholland
Alan Mulholland won't be fast-tracking any more of Galway's U21s into the senior squad.
The Tribesmen captured the 2013 All-Ireland U21 FC crown with victory over Cork on Saturday and one might expect senior boss Mulholland to now bolster his senior panel with some fresh blood from that all-conquering side.
But Mulholland - who himself managed Galway to All-Ireland U21 glory two years ago - is going to stick with the four U21s already in his senior squad, namely Fiontan O Curraoin, Thomas Flynn, Shane Walsh and Tom Healy:
"The U21s' victory doesn't have any bearing on our forthcoming match against Mayo," the Galway boss confirms in The Irish Independent. "There may be people in the county who think we'll immediately get some benefit but that really won't be the case.
"I know as much as anyone else just how much time it takes for U21 players to come through at senior level.
"As we saw again against Cork, it is a completely different kind of game from senior football. Obviously it was great to see the U21s perform so well and win another All-Ireland, but the reality is that it will be another year or two before some more of that team are ready to come through."
