Moorefield GAA Official Opening feature Kildare v Galway

April 30, 2013
Arch rivals Kildare and Galway play in an important pre-championship senior football challenge game this Sunday (May 5) at the spacious Moorefield grounds marking the opening of the club's refurbished clubhouse in Newbridge.

With players on both panels fighting for places on their county teams, Sunday's clash is important for each side as the 2013 championship looms: Galway face Mayo in the Connacht championship on 19 May while Kildare line out against near-neighbours Offaly two weeks later.
A weekend of festivities is planned at Moorefield over the May bank holiday weekend involving football, hurling, ladies football and camogie at all levels as well as underage events.

GAA President Liam O'Neill will officially open the new premises near the Curragh Racecourse on Saturday (May 4) at 3pm. He recently said "the ability of Moorefield to modernise and upgrade on a regular basis is a clear indication of the energy and drive at the heart of its operation."

Martin Murray, Moorefield chairperson, said "Saturday will be a very historic and significant day in the proud history of the club" and he thanked members who have worked tirelessly to put the upgraded facilities in place.

The new building has a spacious hall, fully-equipped meeting room, office, kitchen, bar, and other facilities.
