Galway hurlers' championship prospects have been boosted by key defender Fergal Moore's return to fitness.

Moore, who missed last year's championship with an ankle ligament problem, made his long-awaited return to action for Turloughmore in their 2-13 to 1-16 draw with Castlegar in the opening round of the Galway SHC at Pearse Stadium last weekend.

Ger Farragher also returned from injury in the same game and hit 0-7 for Castlegar after coming on a substitute with 20 minutes to go.

Meanwhile, former minor star Kerril Wade did his chances of receiving a county recall no harm when he bagged 1-11 in Sarsfields' 1-18 to 0-18 victory over St. Thomas'. Tweet
