Junior A team was defeated by Headford in the league on Saturday evening. They went down on a scoreline of 1- 10 to 0-17. Headford started the brighter but Cortoon battled hard to stay in touch. A ten minute spell prior to half time saw Headford score seven points in a row. Cortoon responded with two points from the boot of Jason Kelly. This left Cortoon six points behind at half time 0-12 to 0-6. Cortoon upped their performance in the second half. When Gary Geoghegan struck a low shot from distance that slipped under the Headford goalkeeper there was two points between the teams with eight minutes left. Cortoon tried hard to reduce the deficit further but Headford scored the last two points to leave four between them at the finish.
