Silke calls it a day

Ray Silke reads the play
Veteran Galway defender Ray Silke has decided to bring down the curtain on his intercounty career.
Silke announced his retirement from the maroon and white jersey after helping Corofin win the Galway SFL at the weekend.
During a distinguished county career he represented Galway at minor, U21 and senior level. The highlight was, undoubtedly, captaining the county to All-Ireland senior honours in 1998. He was unable to command a regular spot in the starting line-up during last summer's march to All-Ireland glory.
Earlier that year he captained Corofin when they got the better of Erins Isle to capture the All-Ireland Club title.
