Galway manager Kevin Walsh expects to be able to call upon the services of Damien Comer from late May on.

Comer was forced to watch from the sidelines as the Tribesmen finished in fifth place on the Allianz FL Division 1 table.

Speaking to the Irish Independent, Walsh ruled the bustling full-forward out of their upcoming championship match against London in Ruislip on May 5 but added: “If we win that, the second one (v Sligo), we'll have to see after that. But late May is the target.”

Cillian McDaid (foot), Declan Kyne (ankle), Adrian Varley (shoulder) and Peter Cooke (Achilles) are also currently on Galway’s injured list along with the experienced Paul Conroy who sustained breaks in both legs in a collision against Kerry during last year’s ‘Super 8s’ clash.

"He's not in contact yet,” Walsh said of Conroy’s rehabilitation. “The next few weeks will determine how he comes forward when he goes into contact.”
