Why bother?

(Oldest Posts First)

Why do Rte even bother showing highlights of games they show roughly 10% of scores. For example Monaghan scored 1-11 last night and only showed 1-2 of that. David Clarke was brilliant last night but only showed him being beaten by Hughes. The supports want to see the action not Spillane and Dessie Dolan harping on about it being all doom and gloom for Mayo after a game in February.
The Donegal and Kerry game was just as bad as was Dublin and Cavan. We want to see all the scores instead of commentary on 5 scores in the highlights. It's pretty obviously the commentators don't even leave the Rte studio

Agree with you and as I said in another post from what I saw of the Rossie Tyrone highlights it looked like Rossies dominated and won the match by cricket score - I'm beginning to question that result!

I find it hilarious that I went from where I live in Dublin, to pearse stadium galway and back by 6pm, while the dubs fans, who travelled half the distance wouldn't even have been in navan by then.

Because RTE would rather show 20 mins of Pat Spillane praising his usual favourites and disparaging other ones - and making predictions on who's going to win the All Ireland and who hasn't got a chance based off the opening round of the league. It's obvious we'll hear the same guy make a comment come championship that the league doesn't matter at all. Why are be so obsessed with what dinosaurs like him think. At this stage of the season it's all pretty meaningless - and he's not offering any insight except filler... show us more of the games. It's the same across all the codes too... this endless 'statler and waldorf' nonsense has had its day. More action - less b*llsh*t.

I'll be honest, I'd have very little sympathy for anyone who didn't take 2 minutes to check Google maps and choose an alternative route.

It takes 12 mins longer in no traffic to go through Ballinagh, onto oldcastle and rejoin the N3 just outside Kells.

Or to avoid the N3 altogether, it takes 18 mins longer in no traffic to go via mullingar and onto the M4.

Yeah going on the highlights Roscommon seemed to play Tyrone off the park in Omagh!

Agree with all the above, it's a joke of a programme, merely "fulfilling the fixture" on RTE's part. But it's been going on for years and ultimately it's Croke Park who are responsible. it is their job to ensure that coverage is of the quality that viewers expect and not this half hearted effort year on year.

Maybe they did but score line really didn't reflect it. Perhaps this was a really lucky win for Tyrone.

Maybe you had a much better car!! Seriously though the powers to be who pump money into roads could not give a hoot about upgrading the N3 and bypassing Virginia in the process. The also have the cheek to put two tolls on a 40 mile stretch of road (Dublin to Kells) while you can travel from Dublin to Waterford without any toll. They can also put a tram system into Dublin at a cost of billions (where they could have tied a piece of string to 3 buses and drive them around at no cost to the taxpayer!!!)
