Any analysis of Mayos shortcomings should start with the goal concession rate. 2 goal average goal concession v Dubs in last 3 years in 5 matches. centerfield (Mayo) - Posts: 360 - 03/10/2016 20:42:09 1922111 Link 0 |
On the two games just gone i dont think you need much improving on the art of defending. TheUsername (Dublin) - Posts: 4445 - 03/10/2016 21:18:51 1922123 Link 0 |
I think Dublin's average score in championship since 2011 is 2-18 per game. So Dublin have goals in them alright. Not too easy to stop when they get a run on teams. Joxer (Dublin) - Posts: 4700 - 03/10/2016 21:58:30 1922149 Link 0 |
It's a fair observation - in last five years Donegal have conceded one goal in 3 games v Dublin and are still 2-1 down (though admittedly our problem has been more ambition to score rather than commitment to stopping ) ruanua (Donegal) - Posts: 4966 - 03/10/2016 23:35:16 1922185 Link 0 |
Unlike last year, you'd have to say that Mayo gifted the three goals to Dublin over the two games. Individual errors have been more to blame than our defensive system, which in the main worked quite well. Seldom enough that you'd restrict Dublin's forwards to the total that Mayo did over the two days. Gleebo (Mayo) - Posts: 2208 - 04/10/2016 11:10:44 1922286 Link 0 |
