Why is it that women's Gaelic does not have the same support as mens. On Sunday the greatest team in Gaelic Football is going for six in a row and if not for Dublin back in 2010, it would be 12 in a row. Dublin again will stand in their way but I was at the 2014 final when Dublin also played them and all that there was on the hill was flags covering the empty terrace. zinny (Wexford) - Posts: 1804 - 23/09/2016 17:50:42 1918493 Link 0 |

The hill wasn't opened that day but if you call 33 thousand I think the attendance was poor then you must be appalled at club men and women the country over as the all ireland club football and hurling finals which is a double header get on average 30 thousand. also last year's ladies all ireland final was the largest female sporting attendance in europe for 2015 hill16no1man (Dublin) - Posts: 12665 - 23/09/2016 21:26:46 1918565 Link 0 |
People might ate into me for this but I believe it's to do with the standard of football and probably the physicality. Same reason there isn't a huge following for underage county level . GameOfTyrones (Tyrone) - Posts: 469 - 24/09/2016 08:34:22 1918609 Link 0 |

The standard - what are you judging it against, last weekend? Women's football is what it is, there will be no mixed games and there is no need for it (or anyone get insurance for it). Funny, I find it far more open and exciting than Tyrone football! However your attitude and the attitude of lads who say they would never watch it sums up what is wrong with society - I will won't go to watch LGFA because its not as good as mens - if you are lucky enough to have a daughter, what you are telling her is that she will always be inferior to men. I am not feminist but that type of sh8te has left Ireland in the dark ages for too long.

I'm judging it in my own useless opinion. I watch women's football occasionally . So by standard I mean simple high balls going into the goals ,goalkeeping errors ,two bounces etc . Not that it doesn't happen in the men's , it's just the ratios of errors appear far greater in juxtaposition to mens. Don't even mean that in a men are better than women way , plenty of women footballers who like I said would fit into a senior male panel ...but these players are in the minority, for me it's like comparing the difference between the English premiership and league one , on a general level the gap between the two is big , so that's why I don't see them as the same standard and I'm sorry if that vexes you but many share my opinion. And in regards to having a daughter ,in terms of GAA popularity of the nation, yes she would 100% always be inferior in the eyes of most . It's just how it is , regardless if it angers you.Hence why tickets to tommorows game will be available at the gate and next weeks tickets are going online to the highest bidder. Fair enough if you hate how Tyrone play but they are near the top standard of football in the country , women's football and say for example Carlow men's football( sorry Carlow fans) and underage football is not at the same standard regardless of style , hence why the attendances of these team's games are far, far lower than a Tyrone senior game.
