All-Ireland HURLING final not sold out

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Is this surprising....although I don't think this is the first time this has happened? Are people not bothered or just fed up of the Kilkenny dominance?
No doubt if Croke Park was double in size there would still be demand for football tickets. Anyway for those interested, Hill 16 ticket's are available for general sale online.

Very surprised to read this. But KIlkenny are in it so often maybe fans are not that bothered anymore as they will likely be back again next year or the year after

I'm a bit surprised considering the 2 best teams have made the final and it's as much of a 50/50 game as it's ever been! It's also likely to be a great game, there's too much ability on the field to suggest otherwise. 2 years ago, these two played one of the best games ever. I think it's absolutely crazy if I'm honest.

population of kilkenny is around 100k - if they were to bring 25000 thats 1/4 of their population - leaving 57k for tipp and the rest

As a season ticket holder I was offered the option to buy tickets for last year's and the 2014 final as it didn't sell out then either. This year they went with general sale it seems. Been trying since 11 to buy tickets but site keeps crashing so don't know they're still available or sold out.

To be fair the novelty factor is well gone for most Kilkenny supporters who just don't get the same buzz anymore that's completely understandable. Give them 15 years in the wilderness and they'll all be back if they made another final.

That is the key point I suppose. KK does not have a massive population.

Perhaps neutrals are fed up of seeing the same two sides contesting the final? Kilkenny have only missed out on the final once in recent years ( in 2013) and this will be their fifth time playing Tipp for Liam since 2009.

Cheers. Have been on that very site since about 11am, no luck, keep getting error messages, one of which says the event I'm trying to buy tickets for 'does not exist' and another saying i have insufficient funds although I got paid today! Giving up now.

The hurling final tickets were on general sale last year or the year before for a short period as well. I would say the reason there not selling out is the large number of tickets that go to neutrals are not been sold as people are tired of seeing the cats win.

Do hurling tickets get distributed the same as the football?
2 tickets to each club and 2 tickets to each inter county player?

Not a surprise at all. For the 3 years in a row that KK and Tipp met a few years back demand for tickets was steadily reducing. I remember I could have had as many tickets as I wanted for the final in 2011 and never saw as many guys trying to get rid of them on the street in the lead up to the match. Truth is that Hurling championship is gone very stale and with the exception of a couple of good games a year nothing has changed much over the past 10 years.
Also the predicted heavy rain this weekend wont have helped much. Its no fun being soaked in Croke park.

After 3 epic semifinals & the promise of another epic final it's hard to see why some people aren't too pushed.

only €40 for the hill. can't say any better than that.

I think it may well sell out by Sunday with some neutrals taking the opportunity to see an All-Ireland live
