Big decisions gone wrong

(Oldest Posts First)

Like all great Shakespearean heroes I think their is a flaw in Fitzy's management> Big decisions at pivotal moments have not gone the way he ordained.

- taking off Galvin in 2013 semi-final in the second half when the man was flying and had just scored two second half points.
- bringing back Galvin in 2015 and especially putting him on in the latter stages of the final against Dublin when someone of the likes of Tommy Walsh was needed (Donaghy should also have started this game given the conditions on the day)
- taking off Paul Geaney yesterday and putting on Marc Ó Sé......this move beggared belief.

Any opinions?

His explanation of the Geaney one was interesting.

He mentioned that Dublin had pushed more me forward so he brought on an extra defender to maintain a sweeper.

Seems to put a lot of focus on the system and on adapting to the opposition.

Dublin have hammered us at the 70 mins + stage in the last few meetings
4.10 to 4pts overall roughly so bringing on a defender was the right move.....but at Geaney's expense, maybe not

Tommy Walsh showed last year that he was not up to playing at that level you can't blame fitz for for not putting him on.

He prob unlucky with a few decisions but his decision to bring on Donaghy and Kieran O'Leary paid off in 2014 when drew with Mayo. His biggest mistake sunday was probably starting Gooch. I though he made a error in 2013 taking off Griffin and Crowley as defence fell to pieces after that.

Gooch had critical unforced errors in the second half and should have been taken off instead of Geany. Kerry lost it on the pitch scoring one point after the 61st minute. Also they had 7 minutes of injury time to snatch the draw
