Harte can't see Mayo winning the AI

I'm a bit disappointed by these comments to be honest as a Tyrone man, why say this?

Mayo are now in the final - it's there for them to win. I'd imagine they'll be most people's underdogs no matter who wins the other semi final but it's a strange comment from Harte altogether.

I hugely respect Mickey Harte but that's nonsense just look at the bookmakers odds Mayo 15/8 Kerry 9/2

People never lie when they put their money on the table

It's his honest opinion which I suppose is all you can ask for.

I disagree and think Mayo have what it takes to win regardless of who they face, but they will be underdogs and as Harte says will need a good overall performance with a couple of purple patches.

He was probably asked to give a direct answer to a question and God knows what way it was put to him or in what style he answered it in, however this is what we are left to read.. An extract.. Which says Mayo need to improve their performance to win.. He is correct! They wouldn't beat either Kerry or Dublin if they play like the did in their last two matches. They were very lucky that all 50/50 chances went their way and so did all 50/50 plus decisions from the referees. That's likely to end on AI final day.

Because part of being a critic and having a column in a news paper is providing your own personal opinion!

Why's it so bad to say Mayo won't win the final!? There's nothing out there to show they will win the final

They can't play football in finals with Kerry who'd be the preferred option, Dublin would have to have a sleep to lose against them because overall Dublin are a better team than any other team

I have no problem with his comment. He is entitled to his opinion and does not say it in a disrespectful way. The whole country is writing us off....it's up to the Mayo team to go out and prove em wrong.

Mickey is correct. Sure Mayo have beaten no decent team all year.

Mayo have been the least impressive team to reach an AI final that I've seen in many year.

Have huge respect for Harte. On what we have seen so far here is right. They are clearly coming into the final as massive underdogs.

Defo

Bit all over the shop at times and IMO very lucky to be in an AI final

Question for the Mayo fans.
Who would ye rather play in the final?

You think Mickey Harte is the only person that thinks Mayo won't win the AI. Its an opinion. Bit hypocritical people giving their opinion saying hes wrong to give his.

Doesn't matter. If our lads are in a mindset thinking they'd have an easier game on the 18th, based on who wins next Sunday, they may as well stay at home.

Exactly I'm sure he just didn't call a press conference to announce this, I presume it's a response to a question to be fair and most fair minded people would make this assessment including Mayo folk.

Dublin all day long. We have a fairly decent championship record against the Dubs over the last ten years. We can't manage to beat even a poor Kerry team. As soon as the national anthem is finished it's game over. Having said that it's like being given a choice between being poisoned or burned to death.

Yeah no problem with him giving his opinion. With Dublin at 8/11 and Mayo at 9/4 and Dublin still having to play Kerry it shows what the bookies think of our chances. Anyone tipping Mayo on our performances so far is doing so in the expectation of us upping our game 100% and Dublin/Kerry having an off day in the final. Anything is possible but the odds are about right.
