Mayo in dreamland

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Playing brutal all year not beaten a division 1 team were terrible again today everyone writing them off , this is dreamland stuff for Mayo. Their 70 minutes away from their ultimate goal and will have no pressure what more could an underdog ask for? Have Dublin or Kerry hammered Mayo in the last 4 years? No we haven't. Mayo in a good place imo.

To be honest I don't think they are in a good position at all. If this was a Dublin team who had stuttered their way to an All-Ireland without beating any Divsion 1 side I think we''d be worried that they had got into a Final utterly undercooked.

ClondalkinDub you have more faith in us than we have ourselves But normally we have one great game a year Maybe with a little prayer and some novenas at Knock as Pat suggested we will squeak over the line But we can really enjoy the next 4 weeks Hoping for a great game next weekend God knows we need it

We just haven't been able to put a 70 minute performance together this season, even in London. Hard to put one's finger on why.

CD is right in some respects. Their final opponent might be sitting ducks in their team coach going to Croker on final day.

Unfortunately for us the form guide suggests a repeat of the '13 final. I've often said the '13 final will haunt that Mayo team. If they have anything about them at all they'll put it right. Time will tell.

I agree Clondalkin man.

I'm saying that Mayo will definitely beat Kerry or Dublin but those that are writing them off completely and saying that Dub/Kerry will hammer them are well wide of the mark.

This is a quality Mayo side that just hasn't been firing on all cylinders yet. They've a few weeks to get things right.

Last year Mayo could well have beaten Dublin in the drawn semi final. In my opinion with the losses of ROC and Jack Mac Dublin are weakened this year, Kerry are very hard to judge to be honest but it stands to reason that if Mayo can produce to the level that they did last year they'll beat either Kerry or Dublin in the final.

Whether they can get back to that level or not remains to be seen but those players haven't suddenly become terrible footballers in the space of 12 months.

Would you think they're saving something up for the final or that it's a case of something not clicking? Genuinely asking

Sign of a good team --playing crap and still winning.

Think this is finally Mayo's year.

I genuinely don't think it's possible to save something in reserve for a bigger match down the road. That could be a recipe for disaster. That kind of complacent approach is what managers and coaches try to eradicate from the teams' mindsets. A team won't grow and strenghen unless it continually pushes itself to the lmiits of its ability.

Congrats to Mayo, a proper route to the final as well having to come through the back door and been beaten.

Well done to Tipp a big year of progression, I'm sure not the last.

Hard to disguise your form all season long; something just seems to be missing. I do notice a tendency to slow the game down by Mayo players, not sure whether this is part of the game plan or not. The hard running through the center which was the hallmark of this side for the past several years is only seen in flashes.

First of all Liam I call a spade a spade, Mayo are not playing well and will be underdogs no doubt but they are there again, so fair play to them if they are that bad and still good enough to beat the best of the rest bar Dublin and Kerry. Secondly you do seem to have a sad biased against Mayo. You predicted a fairly comfortable win for Tipp, and please don't bring the ref into it as some people have.

I fear their nightmare will be on 3rd weekend in September as it always is.

if people think Mayo (15/8 to win AI) have no chance then what possibility do the 9/2 outsiders from the South West got?

The dream will soon turn into a nightmare if Golderick or Geogh don't get the whistle for the final.
