Cavan v Tyrone

This is the real banana skin for Tyrone.
If they believe in all the hype this is the game where they could fall.

not really a banana skin a lot of the lads on this Tyrone team will have played some of the Cavan lads in U21 championship and also having played Cavan twice already this year the lads I would dare to say they will not take this game lightly.

Tyrone have not reached an Ulster Final in 6 years so its hard to believe they will take Cavan for granted. Four previous victories over Derry this year did not affect the way they prepared for the quarter final with Derry.

No banana skin, was at Cavan vs Armagh - if Armagh had have scored their penalty it was much closer than Brolly and co made it out to be. Tyrone will take this one to set up final date with ourselves ;-)

This is a very tough game Cavan have really improved and success in Ulster at under 21 did them good .tough one for Tyrone

Although Cavan have/are progressing,I think Tyrone are the most street-wise team in GAA.Thats a compliment to Tyrone by the way.

I don't think Tyrone play with that mentality though.

See Tyrone winning this one comfortably . Cavan have improved and may (if they are lucky) still get through to a quarter-final but I think Tyrone by four or five . Ronan O'Neill is one fine footballer that just has the winning edge on that team at the minute. Tyrone have a lovely transition from defence to attack this year, I rate them highly , more so than last year and fully expect them to win Ulster out.

Agree with this .

Tyrone are pragmatic and simply know how to win. They have a suberb manager.

Mind you I don't think Tyrone are as great as some people think but they will do enough to best Cavan .

Tyrone by 5 .

No but I think they are greater than the sum of their parts. They have some top players of course but so do Monaghan and Donegal. As you say Harte is a top top manager, possibly the best in the game right now.For me three teams can win Ulster and I don't think Cavan are one of them, yet.

Hope you are right as Ulster is the only province where there hasn't been a properly competitive game yet this year but I think Tyrone have far too much knowhow for this Cavan side.

I would expect this to a very close match if Cavan get their tactics right
This system that Tyrone use is nothing new, Defend in numbers and counter attack at pace. Donegal were the first use it successfully, Tyrone use the full width of the pitch very well when attacking, but it can nullified if you go like for like. Pushing too many lads forward (or getting sucked forward) is suicide against this system. I expect Cavan to be cute enough to keep men back, this may not be pretty especially in the first half. Cavan have an excellent mid field and they need to force the kick outs long and not let Tyrone build easy possession from the back. M Argue needs to get his finger out and play like he did against us last year, he is a serious target man on the square, when on form. They re in a great place to pull off a win, having lost twice to them in the league and back in confident mood.
However. with Tyrone you know what is coming and they are still going to do what they do (well). It's very often the work rate that kills you rather than anything else. In a close match you would expect Tyrone with the talent they can bring on (hope to see Lee Brennan in this regard) to finish the stronger

I couldn't think of the last time Cavan beat Tyrone in the Ulster Championship so I had to check the records - 1983

Could it really have been that long ago or did I miss one

Nope that's it. Losing streak can't go on for ever!

What's the story with Joe and Justin McMahon? If they are out then Cavan have a big physical advantage up front.

I would expect us to win but a lot more worried about cavan than I was about derry. I was very impressed by their pace during league final and probably just missing a few forwards.

Really couldn't predict the tyrone team the options are that good at the minute, might not be time to spring lee brennan just yet!

If Cavan click and the tactics are right then it could be lights out for red hands. Cavan match Tyrone easily in strength and speed. The game will be won on the sidelines
