Duplicate tickets fiasco

(Oldest Posts First)

Lads & Lassies,

I know I'm going to sound like a broken record here (and I apologise for this) as I've posted this on a few different topics now but feel with the demand for tickets and the amount of people that seem to be without it should be highlighted. Please be wary who you buy tickets from in the lead up to the game.

As a lot of you will already have read, tickets.ie have in error sent out tickets in duplicate/triplicate form. For the honest people out there that received them it won't be an issue, they will follow the instructions sent to them by email by tickets.ie and only use one set of tickets, destroying the other 1 or 2 sets they have received. Unfortunately though, as we're all aware a lot of touts have bought tickets and they will have no qualms about selling on duplicates sets to make a few bob.

Tickets.ie have confirmed that all sets of tickets are live/valid tickets but as all barcodes are the same the 1st person to use the ticket will gain entry, any subsequent attempts to use these tickets will result in people being turned away.

Here's an article about it from the Mayo News.

Amateur hour!!

That is a serious mess up.. Not sure how easy it would be to cancel them all and reissue via email with the number of people who bought them in the shops..

Sure I got the online tickets for Q/F and last Sunday from tickets.ie
Printed them at home. Could have printed hundreds and picked a few locations to flog them. They should ask for names and addresses of all getting these printable tickets, when people apply for them online, and advise they may be asked for ID at the ground.

got 4 in the post today. 2 being duplicates (had ordered 2).

How widespread is it I wonder and how is there no check and balance of the tickets that go out the door when they dispatch

In terms of ticketing it is a fiasco I just read email from my club basically saying club has received same ticket allocation as per the drawn game. Members who purchased for drawn game will receive first refusal for replay. That is as it should be. All tickets have to be tracked an touting stamped out. As for duplicates happened to me TWICE this year the most galling was in a Croke park with about 10,000 in in and half of one section double booked !!! There will be chaos if there is duplicate tickets and the stewards take the attitude the person in the seat first gets the seat.

arock, first I've heard about the double-booked scenario, what a cock-up. Which match was it?

the GAA really need to look at this immediately. the season ticket set-up is also very prone to mess-ups and is run in a seat-of-the-pants manner
