Galway v Donegal

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Thoughts? Galway going into the game on good form after beating two Ulster teams, not sure if we have what it takes yet to beat a team of Donegals calibre though. Having said that, Donegal looked real sluggish today. Should be an interesting match.

Not really! Galway are on an upward curve and Donegal are on a downward one. The fact that that you open such a thread as a Galway supporter means you must be confident of victory. Galway will beat Donegal.

Donegal to win this before getting dumped out by Mayo.

Fancy Galway for this big time. The media and so called pundits have been bigging up Donegal saying they have improved on the Donegal under mcguiness but the have not. They destroyed a terrible Armagh side and wernt overly convincing against Tyrone and Derry. Mcbearthy is not in the top 10 players in country like Peter canavan sujested earlier this year in my own opinion. Fair play to Monaghan full value for the win and a joy to watch Conor McManus today and everyday. Different class to everyone else on pitch today

Two teams heading in different directions, Donegal have a lot of miles on the clock, Galway have youth in abundance, Galway by 4/5.

Neutral venue.

carrick seems the natural place to have it.

If Galway are patient they will win. If they get frustrated by Donegals tactics and give away stupid frees they will lose. Just expect a low scoring affair and try not to give Donegal any frees and easy turnovers. Hopefully Walsh can play the whole game and I hope Galway to win a close one. One or two points.

I'd give Galway the nod on this one, there is a steel in this Galway side and in better conditions than yesterday they will be a force to reckon with. Galway all the way.

This will be an interesting game, I was impressed with Galway against Derry as they really dug out a result. It is difficult to know what will happen to Dinegal now, hopefully they can regroup.

I hope they don't take this game to Croke Park. It could be played in Sligo or Castlebar.

It's very difficult to know how we will react after today. We kicked 16 wides and should have got at least a draw. When Monaghan beat us in 2013 we reacted very poor and struggled past a limited Laois team before being destroyed by Mayo. Possible repeat dose in 2015!

Will Galway have Shane Walsh back for that game? Donegal looked a tired team today and still only lost by 1 point but they have 2 weeks now to turn it around.

Wayno Carrick is too small to host a game this big. Game will be in MacHale Park which also hosted these two counties when they played each other in a quarter final a few years back.

Galway have looked vulnerable at full back for a while so surely we will finally see Murphy get the chance to show his talents in his best position the next day. If Murphy does spend the day in full-forward then I would expect Donegals experience and physique to be enough to get them past a Galway team in the early stages of development.

Could be a good game, we'll see if Monaghan have extinguished Donegal's fire, all will be revealed, they should be easily motivated with the prospect of possible meetings with Mayo and Dublin!

The quarter-finals on one side will be:
Dublin v Cork and Mayo v Donegal.

The semi-final on the other side will be Kerry v Monaghan or Tyrone.

If Kerry and Monaghan are deemed to be on the more favourable side of the draw, it is a fair enough reward for having beaten a Division 1 team in their provincial finals.
