Michael Meehan's future in Doubt

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Just read this story and think it's really sad a player of Michaels ability is struggling for so long with ankle damage.
In one sense it explains why he wasn't as potent as previously and surgical advice/prognosis poor.

Hope he can get back as there are few Michael Meehan's about with that talent and strong as an ox.

Totally agree on this a very skillfull player with a great eye for a score also very clean player also i wish him the very best.Good corner forwards like him are very thin on the ground at the minute.

Great player on his day, destroyed Marc in 2008. Awful loss to the game if he doesn't recover.

How old is he..says 27..I thought he was younger time flies when you get older as they say.
If he has been hampered for tweo years and his form supports that and he's doubtful for 2012...might be 28/29 so not looking good for him.

He was awesome in 2008 against Kerry - unplayable really which shows you he's been well less than 100%, Awful conditions that day gerat match last decent performance form Galway.

27 years young.

Unbelievable talent. Very sad if he doesn't make a recovery. Still, players have beaten the odds before, it's just more difficult for a an amatuer player to make this kind of recovery than a professional. All the best to him anyway.

he a class act.Up there with the Colm Cooper and Bernard Brogan as one of the top forwards in the country,i wonder is a case of player burnout?he been unlucky with injures for last 3-4 years. He has 2 u21 All Irelands,Sigerson Cup and All Ireland Club medals and still only 27,hopefully will recover and see him back in action for the championship

This is sad. I hope he does recover but it doesn't sound good. Brilliant forward for Galway.

He was never right after bulking up so much. I dont think it suited his game all that well. He should take a good long break, 12 months at least, a good rest can work wonders.

I hope he reads these posts; it's great to see such appreciation for a Galway sportsman from every corner of the country. Fair play all of ye.

Pity about MIchael, he hasnt being injury free since 2008 and in the quarter final that year he scored ten points often being double marked by Tomas O Se and Tom O Sullivan. I'd rather him take this year off and be better prepared for 2013 than playing and getting injured again. Won colleges all Ireland in 2002 after defeating Colaiste na Sceilige in the semi final in a replay in what was described as one of the greatest college games of all time. Hopefully he'll be back soon for Galway. If we got him, Armstrong and Nicky Joyce back as well as Padraic and the u-21s we'd be looking at a serious forward line.

Just an update on this, a lad on the Galway forum (jackoshea) is just after saying Mike Meehan played 25 minutes for his club Caltra today in the league. Apparently scoring three points and setting up a goal. Here's hoping..
