HOWDY BOYS!

For the last 2 weeks we are off for the rest of the season.

Anybody doing a bit of training while on preseason (other then the pub )

If so what should I be at hit the gym / 5k runs

I doubt I'm the only junior doing a bit of training on the off season

Cheers

Anything specific you want to improve on in the off season?
Hows the body feeling? You can have a long enough season so why not taKe more time off with no training?
What do you want to improve the most? what would you want to be doing in the gym/do you need more work on general fitness so longer runs or do you need work on speed if so you need to be doing shorter more intensive sets

Over all mate. I've had 10 years on and off with injuries weights to bulk up more more ball work to keep mind active.

And trying to work on my fitness instead of coughing up a lung on the pitch

go off and so something that is completely different to GAA eg a non field, non team sport
then you won't be over training the same muscle groups all the time and getting overuse injuries from the same movement patterns
your body needs time to recover

handball
boxing
martial arts
basketball
swimming

you can also do some gym work.

But anything specific you want to work on? Have a smaller goal than all over improvement as that is more realistic?
How many times at peak would you be training and how much more can you train than you currently are. If you want to bulk up to help with injuries. Focus on core work - plank, superman etc - and really strengthen up your core with 30s in each position of plank, one arm off ground, then the other arm, one leg off ground then the other then superman position etc. All for 30s a time. Do that a few times a week.
That will help you strengthen up
If overall fitness is the issue work on longer runs. Dont do too much shorter run sets

cross training can be quite beneficial but none of those necessarily will be hugely beneficial to the op to help him improve in areas he wants to improve in. These sports/exercises could all be part of his training set up like swimming for recovery for example but the best way for body to recover is enough rest and enough time without any sport

Get a football, get a few lads go kick points and do some passing on the pitch/astro/indoor football pitch.

No good been able to run up and down and handpass the ball over and back, if you cant play football
