London v Carlow

(Oldest Posts First)

Any word on this
Very winnable championship game for both sides.
If Carlow bring intensity lik Dublin game they should win. Leitrim disposed of London easily enough have they lifted the spirits for this one.
Have either of these teams many wins in the qualifiers?

A first championship meeting between these two teams. London have won win. Their sole victory coming against Fermanagh in 2011. Carlow have five wins. They have beaten Waterford twice (2001, 2014), Wicklow twice (2003, 2016) and Offaly in 2005.

Mornin' Frederick, not sure I'd call a 3 point margin disposing of London easily but I'd say Carlow will win this one by a similar margin.

From what I gather London have prepared well for this one, going in to this game they have a couple of things in their favour like, this is a home game for them in a revamped grounds, they have already beaten Carlow in the nfl, Carlow on the other hand have got a few better results in the league than London have and a somewhat glorious defeat against the Dub's in the championship.
I have no idea who'll win it but I seriously hope do if not all the promise will have been in vain.

Carlow will win. London put everything into Leitrim game and then the players had a big blow out. I would say the point about an easy Leitrim win is well wide of the mark. A couple of goals saved them when London should really have won.

I'd say goals again to hurt London and Carlow by six.

Carlow barely scrape through against London. Probably because they were so ingrained in the set up they used versus Dublin. Murphy sent off again - he should not have gotten off the last time. Does any Carlow supporter know how many times he has been sent off for Carlow in league and championship in his career? It's gotta be half a dozen anyway.

What should he not have gotten off?

The first yellow v Dublin was very clearly an error by the ref and for that reason the red was rightly rescinded on appeal.

To answer your question, the number of his red cards would be closer to a dozen than a half dozen. Indiscipline continues to blight his career and he is now targeted in every game, just as he was v Dublin, because it's well known he usually reacts to sometimes even minor provocation. The first yellow v Dublin was an error however.

I'm trying not to be bias but, personally I never saw Brendan Murphy playing with less fire in his belly than today, I'll go as far as saying he had a squeaky clean game but that's not to say he had a quiet game, yes I do believe he was ear marked but only because he won his appeal that allowed him to play today especially when Diarmuid Connolly lost his appeal, both appeals came from the Carlow Dublin game. Ruth's black card at worst should have been a yellow, both teams could and should have finished with 15 players, a few iffy decisions went against London as well. That is more than a useful London side and they were well prepared for game, it was a home venue for them and they had already beaten Carlow in the nfl by 0-07 a few weeks earlier, in the referees opinion today London didn't have the discipline to win this one.?
London could have won today, but all credit to Carlow for holding their composure, they didn't panic and took their options well, one thing is sure Carlow won't have Brendan Murphy for their next game, we'll see.
Brendan Murphy doesn't go out in any game simply to pick up two yellow cards, a black card or a straight red card, or does he go out to miss a score able free, or a goal, these things happen.
