Taking Dublin away - I was right!

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

I was banging the drum for a long time saying it's a joke Dublin get to play all their championship matches in their de facto home croke Park and that if they'd played their fair share away for the last 10 years they might not have won some of the leinsters they did.

Last year against laois and this year carlow has proved the idea right. Both matches a lot more exciting then they would have been in a boring half empty croker.

We were told nowhere could accommodate the Dublin fans. But last year and this year they came nowhere near to selling out the venues. They can be easily accommodated for the lesser matches.

Another argument was they should maximise revenue by playing it in croker. If that was the case they'd have meath playing all their early matches in navan because we get a bigger crowd in navan then we get travelling to croker, tullamore carlow, portlaoise etc.

Anyway glad to see one of my ideas proved correct. If the ref didn't gift Dublin everything as usual then this would have been a close contest right to the end rather then for 40mins.

So is it the venue or the ref that is to blame for Dublin winning by 8points with 45min gone?

Catch yourself on..Dublin have won what they have over the past ten years cause they were significantly better than all other teams in leinster during that time.

Agree with wally there's no dought Dublin we're the better team in Leinster by a mile the last ten years would of won all then Leinsters regardless of venues, but the signs are there that this Dublin team are on the slide, gives hope to the winners of Westmeath and Offaly put it up to Dublin you never know

Offaly and Westmeath have no chance.Dublin are bored to death playing these games at this stage. They can only really be judged by what happens from the AI quarter final on.

Good to see you cover all bases with your fantasy take on Dublin's success. First fact, the rest of Leinster are total crap, if Dublin played with 10 men they would have won. Second fact is Dublin are jut better than the rest no matter the ref or pitch. Now these are hard facts for you to swallow, which you never even once alluded to!!!
So its because we play in Croker and when we don't play in Croker its the ref's that win it for us! Just read what you posted that is essentially the basis of your argument.

That's the spirit Offaly what a great attitude to have, sure if you beat Westmeath just give Dublin a bye seen as you have no chance, you obviously weren't around in the 70s and 80s when Offaly beat Dublin many times

It's wasn't nearly proved correct. Like your counties chances this year, it's all in your head.

Great buzz and colour all day around Portlaoise yesterday with both locals and visitors enjoying the occasion, also great for the economy of the town. Good decision to bring the match out of Dublin.

I dont get this how is a 19-7 point victory considered a great performance for the loosing team, or justifying that Dublin arent as strong outside Croke park.

Weird.

I agree totally. It's condescending nonsense. Carlow had nothing in their heads except damage limitation and to a certain extent I can understand it because we have about 6 players who can match the Dublin team but after that we're in trouble. However I'd prefer that we went out having a go rather than that effort from management last night. None of your forwards score from play in 75 minutes and 3 points from play in the entire match. Say no more....

The ability to take a situation throw in a dose of spin , innuendo, a dollop of rethoric and yep your proved right and to hell with facts , Dublin would have beaten Carlow if it was played on the moon
