Connolly interfering with match official

(Oldest Posts First) - Go To The Latest Post

Just wondering everyone's thoughts on this as a rule you cannot touch a match official? Not a hate post just wondering everyone's thoughts as I had an incident like this a few years ago.

He will never learn. He can kick some good scores from unreal angles when he's in the mood but despite countless red/yellow/black cards and suspensions he continually gets involved in stuff.
Even as a Dublin fan I won't be popular for saying this but I think he should be just cut loose at this stage. You never hear of Connolly shooting the lights out against the bigger teams or being a leader on the pitch when the chips are down. There are some younger players coming through (particularly in the forwards) that deserve a chance - especially if they have discipline on their side.
Not being a troll I'm just weary.

Would you behave yourself. Murphy and Cooper were jostling a bit then Murphy grabbed him around the head to dry and drag him down. Silly at the best of times but when you're already on a yellow card?

Maybe you should alter the title of the thread :D In all seriousness though, no one should put a hand on an official, should get a two match ban in my opinion.

well if mcgeeny can be banned for verbal abuse of an official then Connolly should be looking at a long summer on the stands, if not it just goes to show the difference and absolute inconsistency of the cccc

If the gaa implement the rule to the letter of the lay. Connolly will get 12 weeks which is the minimum suspension.
If indeed he is banned Connolly will be back in time for the All Ireland final.

12 weeks minimum (that's not my opinion, the rule) our keeper is serving 12 weeks for exact same thing

I totally agree with you. Aside from shoving the linesman, what he did get booked for was almost identical to what Murphy got a second yellow for and rightly so on both counts

I love how people think the rules apply to Connolly just like the rest of us.

That's fair enough so if that's the rule!

This is where the integrity of the Association stands or falls. McGeeney got a ban for words so surely this demands a far more serious punishment? Connolly is a superb player but you cannot touch an official. If the GAA and media ignore this once again the rest of us may as well fold up the tent and walk away for good.

He will be remembered for been a troubled player. Could have been a great player but time to cut loose.

I believe Kieran McGeeney got a 3 month suspension for abuse towards an official so he could get hit with a suspension for that as well. It's a shame as he really is a fantastic player but has a very short fuse.

If he doesn't get suspended do Dublin fans think Jim Gavin should drop him? Maybe that would help in the long run.
