Times and venue to be confirmed tomorrow. Think it's clear cut who will make semi outside of the Waterford Galway game.

I'm really looking forward to wexford and kk
I think all the games will be good battles . Apart from tipp and offaly there will be only one winner there no offence to anyone.

Really hope we can go to Kilkenny and give them a game of it but I am concerned that we did not play very well in our last 3 league games, we conceded a lot against teams we should not be conceding against if we are serious about giving Kilkenny a game of it and our free taking situation badly needs to be sorted out.
I have never subscribed to the "Kilkenny not the team they were" jargon, they have never fielded a bad team and no bad hurler has ever wore the black and amber!

I'm disappointed we are playing Cork.

It's always great to play the Rebels but we have met twice this year in the Munster League. All we did between both games was close the gap of defeat. If we lose to Cork we learn very little. So we really have to win. If we had drawn Tipp or Kilkenny for example, win or lose we'd know where we are. I expect Cork to edge it in this 1/4 final, probably by a point or two. Kingston is making some progress as their Manager.

I'd be fairly clear myself that it will be Waterford! If we get them in Salthill though it could be a different story. Agree with the other poster too that Cork vs Limerick is not straightforward.

three decent games to be played, you cant help feel for offaly playing against tipperary and a slightly wounded tipp at that. a mega score win for tipp id imagine.

i think cork v limerick is just as mouthwatering as waterford v galway. im sure no one in january thought cork would beat waterford clare and tipperary. limerick had a decent campaign too annilating laois and kerry by putting up huge scores and getting over the line v offaly but fell short v their top 2 opponents for promotion. i think cork will prevail here.

waterford v galway is the big one i suppose. venue will determine alot here i think. waterford have had a rollercoaster league but that was a huge win in cusack pk yesterday...disappointed not to give tipp a better go and just putting the home loss to cork down to us having an off day and cork having a great day. galway too had a huge campaign with substantial scorelines. i cant call this one but ill tip whoever has home advantage.

kilkenny v wexford. well wexford or cork? between those two for most improved county so far this term. no surprises at all to see davy fitz do his magic with the yellow bellies. theyve had a great campaign and fully deserve their promotion. i dont think they will get over the line here but it will be good to see just how far theyve come on. i wouldnt think a mega score win either for kk. pity wexford didnt draw some1 else, might have pushed on to last 4. eitherway wexford will be v.happy with their league this year.

semi finals:

cork / limerick v waterford /galway

tipp / offaly v kilkenny / wexford

What games will be televised this weekend lads. I suppose Galway Waterford will be seen as the big one . I won't be able to make our game this weekend so hoping against hope either TG4 or Eir sport decide to show our game in Nowlan Park. Think it could be a right battle and expect us to throw everything at Kilkenny

Can some one explain how these venues are sorted? Tipp have already played 3 of 5 away and their reward for topping the group is an away match and KK's award for coming fourth compared to Wexford topping 1B is a home game?
I'd be p1seed off if I was from Wexford. I'm not complaining about travelling away to Offaly as it suits me better but just wondering the logic of where they come up with these?
Likewise the 5th team in 1A should be guaranteed home advantage...

they say its the toss of a coin but if you ask me they try and facilitate as many double headers as possible. offaly are also at home that day in football, so are galway and cork...it seems to me the GAA dont want to split camps. as i said in a previous post id tip however gets home adv. in galway v waterford...not many from waterford will make that long trip to galway.

I've copied and pasted this from the GAA site:

Offaly, Galway, and Cork all won coin-tosses so will have home advantage for their quarter-finals against Tipperary, Waterford, and Limerick respectively.

Three of the quarter-finals will be played as part of attractive double-headers.

Galway's clash with Waterford will follow the Galway football team's pivotal Allianz Football League Division 2 match against Kildare in Pearse Stadium.

Cork's clash with Limerick will follow the Cork football team's Allianz Football League Division 2 match against Down at Pairc Ui Rinn

While Offaly's clash with Tipperary will follow the Offaly football team's Allianz Football League's Division 2 match against Laois at Tullamore.

Kilkenny were already assured of home advantage against Wexford because they have only played two home matches so far this year in the League whereas Wexford have played three.

apparently,wexford had 3 home league games,kilkenny had 2.
so another anomaly of the system, wexford had 3 home games against kerry, limerick and laois, make them play kilkenny at the end of that.
you could not make this stuff up,which is clearly what the gaa have done!

So Tipp and Offaly both had 3 away so it was a coin toss. Kind of makes sense. No disrespect to Offaly or Galway or Limerick but why are they facing into Q finals and Clare and Dublin are in relegation.
There's no logic that the 10th best team out of 12 can win the competition but the 5th and 6th have no chance. Having said that I like the majority of the format. Few minor tweaks needed imo
